Champagne Ayala 16373

Le Blanc de Blancs 2013

Champagne, France

October 22, 2019
Ayala’s Blanc de Blancs is 100% Chardonnay, produced in small quantities in exceptional years only, fully expresses the superb caliber of great Chardonnay from the best crus of the Côte des Blancs. After 6 years of aging in Ayala’s cellars, remarkable minerality and low dosage make this an outstanding wine.

Decanter -November 02, 2020 "A first whiff of lemon zest immediately sets the tone. More air and swirling then reveals a backdrop of chalk but also the enticing, cloudlike zestiness of lemon meringue pie.…

E. Guigal 16333

Côte-Rôtie Brune et Blonde 2016

Côte-Rôtie

October 18, 2019
Guigal is synonymous with the Côte-Rôtie area, for bringing this great wine region to prominence, and for owning three times as much land as next largest land-owner, vinifying 1/3 of the total appellation, and unquestionably holding the finest sites in this tiny, special area. The incredible Syrah from this area, co-fermented with a touch of Viognier, has tremendously balanced concentration, depth and finesse.

Vinous -April 30, 2020 "Opaque, shimmering magenta. Potent, smoke-accented aromas of cherry, dark berry preserves, exotic spices and pungent flowers, along with hints of bacon fat and savory herbs. Deeply concentrated yet lively in…

James Suckling -October 18, 2019 "A terrific range of spice and fragrance that really defines great Côte-Rôtie. The fruit is in the fresh red-plum and dark-berry zone and there’s dark chocolate here, too. The palate…

Saint-Joseph Lieu Dit Rouge 2016

Saint-Joseph

September 30, 2019
A result of its quality, Guigal’s Saint-Joseph Lieu Dit Rouge comes from the “Saint-Joseph” vineyard that gives the appellation its name. This site convinced the Guigals to work in Saint-Joseph and help to restore the historic perception of Saint-Joseph as an appellation of utmost quality. The 100% Syrah wine has complex and deep black fruit, floral, spice and mineral characteristics. Despite its concentration and powerful attack, the wine retains the trademark elegance that Saint-Joseph offers.

Wine Spectator -January 16, 2020 "Warm in feel, with a velvety display of enticing plum sauce and cherry preserve notes that meld with ganache, melted licorice and mesquite flavors through the slightly exotic finish. Stays…

Emmaline Anne Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

Sonoma Coast

September 20, 2019
Often the most subtle and sophisticated expression of Cobb Pinot Noir, Emmaline Anne Vineyard sits at the western margin of Sebastopol, California, in one of the Sonoma Coast’s coldest microclimates and gets the most shade and fog of any of the vineyards Cobb works with. The combination of pinot noir varieties and the terroir of this small vineyard result in pinot noirs that are delicate and beautifully complex, with relatively low levels of alcohol.

Jeb Dunnuck -October 10, 2019 "The 2016 Pinot Noir Coastlands Diane Cobb offers an exotic style in its wild strawberry, blueberry, candied orange, and rose petal aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, vibrant and pure on the…

Coastlands Vineyard Diane Cobb Pinot Noir

Sonoma Coast

September 20, 2019
When Coastlands was first being planted in 1989, very few varieties of pinot noir were available commercially, and fewer still tested under conditions on the edge of the continent. Working with the University of California at Davis, Diane Cobb established a University licensed nursery block at Coastlands that contained over 20 relatively unknown pinot noir varieties. In 1996, Diane doubled the size of the nursery block. For the new plantings she selected a single pinot noir variety she thought was both especially flavorful and well suited for the coastal climate. The Coastlands Vineyard: Diane Cobb Pinot Noir comes exclusively from this block and commemorates Diane’s life at Coastlands from its founding in 1989 until her death in 2006. It is an expression of the love of her family, and of the 1.5 acres of vines she hand-tended, which now yield a lovely, complex and distinctive wine.

Jack Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir

Sonoma Coast

September 20, 2019
This 2-acre vineyard overlooks the Freestone Valley near Occidental, north of San Francisco in far western Sonoma County. The soils are the sandy loams typical of the ridgetops of this portion of western Sonoma County. Jack Hill is planted to three clones of pinot noir grown on a west-facing slope. Surrounded by dense oak forest and Douglas fir, this steep vineyard produces a graceful and complex expression of coastal Sonoma County pinot noir.

Wine Advocate (95+) -October 03, 2019 "The pale ruby colored 2016 Pinot Noir Jack Hill Vineyard is scented of pomegranate liqueur, Bing cherry and cranberry with exotic spices, lilac, bergamot, wet leaves and earth. Light to…

Petrolo 14518

Galatrona 2014

Val d'Arno di Sopra DOC

August 15, 2019
Year after year, Galatrona has quietly been recognized as one of the great wines of Italy and is often referred to as the Petrus of Tuscany. What it truly is, though, is beyond comparison - a wine of utter individuality reflective of the Petrolo estate and its unique location in an all but unknown appellation of Tuscany.

Wine Spectator (+) -August 15, 2019 "Black currant, cedar, thyme and spice flavors are backed by a solid structure here. Firm tannins take hold of the finish as this winds down, with echoes of fruit and…

ALESTE Barolo 2015

ALESTE - a combination of the names of Luciano Sandrone's grandchildren ALEssia and STEfano -- is the new name for Luciano's first wine, the Barolo Cannubi Boschis, which garnered Luciano his early acclaim with the international trade and press. This single-vineyard wine is typically dense and concentrated but shows incredible harmony and balance.

Le Vigne Barolo 2015

Barolo

July 22, 2019
Le Vigne is a wine created from four different Nebbiolo vineyards, each of which brings its own contribution. This union generates an exceptionally complex wine that is round and harmonious on the palate, with fruity and spicy notes, and this approach of blending together plots is in fact the traditional one in Barolo.

Jeb Dunnuck -March 27, 2020 "The 2015 Barolo Le Vigne is a multi-vineyard blend from the sites of Vignane (Barolo, just beside Bussia), Merli (Novello), Baudana (Serralunga d’Alba), and Villero (Castiglione Falletto). It sees the…
