Brunello di Montalcino 2012
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG
This elegant, traditional style Brunello is produced at a mid-sized estate located in the southern hills of Montalcino, between the towns of Sant’ Angelo in Colle and Castelnuovo dell’Abate, one of the most quintessentially picturesque areas in Tuscany. The vineyards are south-east exposed and trellised with single spurred cordon, with soils that are extremely stony and made up of a shale and clay mix known locally as “galestro.” The 2012 Brunello underwent a a 25-day fermentation and maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. It was then aged for 3 years in large Slavonian oak casks, and bottle aged for an additional 4 months before release.
Vineyard

The Casisano vineyard enjoys southeastern exposure and is composed of various soil types. It is particularly rich in galestro stone.
Winemaking

The 2012 vintage of Casisano Brunello saw skin maceration that lasted 25 days. The wine then aged in Slavonian oak casks for 3 years, followed by an additional four months of bottle aging.

"cherry and leafy underbrush notes"
Wine Spectator - November 21, 2018 “A vegetal aroma gives way to cherry and leafy underbrush notes in this vibrant red. Firm and chalky in texture, picking up leather and tobacco accents on the finish.”

Rosso di Montalcino
Casisano Rosso di Montalcino is a classic expression of Sangiovese Grosso, the Sangiovese clone used to make both Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino. Lively and elegant, Casisano Rosso has a round medium body, with soft and velvety tannins, and the wine perfectly and faithfully reflects Montalcino’s unique terroir.
