Givry 2018

Givry, Burgundy

April 15, 2021
Givry is one of the smallest but most famous of the 5 villages in the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, in the southern part of Burgundy. Whole bunch maceration really helps this wine to deliver. It brings structure, matter and a touch of spiciness and freshness.

Wine Spectator -April 15, 2021 "Bright, with juicy black cherry, black currant, licorice and sweet spices."

E. Guigal 30575

Ermitage Ex Voto Rouge 2015

Hermitage

April 14, 2021
Ermitage Ex-Voto represents the fulfillment of a longtime dream of Marcel Guigal’s to own vineyard land on the hill of Hermitage. Through the purchase of the de Vallouit and J. L. Grippat domaines in 2000, Guigal acquired four exceptional vineyard parcels on this legendary site. The 2001 vintage was the first release of this estate-bottled Hermitage red and white. The quality of the intense old-vine fruit is quite special, but given the Guigal’s already strong work in Hermitage, they decided to only release an Ex-Voto red or white when the wine is utterly exceptional and clearly superior to their appellation bottlings.

Wine Spectator -August 01, 2022 "Exotic, this ripples with warm, well-steeped boysenberry, blackberry and fig fruit flavors infused with notes of dark tea, singed alder and juniper and wild herbs. All the components move in…

Jeb Dunnuck (98+) -April 14, 2021 "The rich, powerful, primordial 2015 Hermitage Ex Voto isn’t for those seeking instant gratification and will need a solid decade of bottle age. Incredible notes of crème de cassis, liquid…

La Guita 30515

Manzanilla

Sanlúcar de Barrameda

April 09, 2021
La Guita is the manzanilla from Sanlucar and the most popular wine in the region. Aged under highly active flor for four and a half years, La Guita develops intense complexity while retaining beautiful freshness. They bottle six times a year, as opposed to once or twice as many other houses, to capture as much freshness as possible. La Guita is made in two bodegas, and the smaller of the two, Bodega Misericordia, dates to 1526. Located in the heart of Sanlúcar, it was once the Hospital de San Juan de Dios. The larger bodega, Pago Sancular Viejo, is located on the road to Jerez and accounts for about 80% of La Guita's production. While legally allowed to source grapes from anywhere in Jerez, they focus exclusively on grapes from Sanlúcar - specifically from the Milaflores vineyard.

Wine Spectator -April 09, 2021 "Distinctive, with verbena and tarragon notes leading the way, followed by lemon pith and jicama flavors. Flashes of gooseberry and talc run through the finish."

Far Mountain 30113

Fission Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Sonoma Valley, Sonoma County, California

March 18, 2021
Fission is a pure mountain wine, with a dark depth of fruit chiseled by the cool elevation of its two vineyard sites.  A wine of texture, with the intensity and sappy concentration we associate with old vines, it builds into powerful tannins that remain refined, almost cloaked by the seductiveness of the fruit and the gently building structure. The name Fission was ultimately chosen to reference the textural and mineral characteristics that the unique volcanic soil brings to this wine.

Armé Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

North Coast, California

March 16, 2021

Stylistically balanced between modern California and Old World, this wine is dense with fresh, dark fruit and tempered with a savory, earthy character. The dry fly on the label is a reference to Chris Bilbro's long family history of fishing with his great uncle Armé along the waterways that now adjoin the three estate vineyards. North Coast, California

March 16, 2021
Named and styled after Chris Bilbro, affectionately called ""Christo"" by his great-aunt Marietta, this Rhone varietal blend is gentle but powerful, pleasurable but deep, and refined while raw. An ode to Scot's father and founder of Marietta Cellars, this blend is largely Syrah from the McDowell estate, blended with Petite Sirah from the Angeli Estate and Grenache from the Yorkville Highlands Estate. The pig snout on the label is a reminder of how Chris Bilbro made wild boar sausage and carted his creations around the country to share with chefs and wine lovers alike as he sold Marietta wines.
