Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2022

Côtes du Rhône

August 21, 2023
Guigal’s Côtes du Rhône Blanc both sets and steps outside the standard for the appellation and showcases one of the great secrets of the Guigal family: their specialization in the great white Rhône varieties. While only 8% of the Rhône's production is white, a full 25% of Guigal’s production is white and they are today the single largest producer of whites in the Rhône Valley.

Le Vigne Barolo 2019

Barolo

August 09, 2023
Le Vigne is a wine created from four different Nebbiolo vineyards, each of which brings its own contribution. This union generates an exceptionally complex wine that is round and harmonious on the palate, with fruity and spicy notes, and this approach of blending together plots is in fact the traditional one in Barolo.

ALESTE Barolo 2019

Barolo

August 09, 2023
ALESTE - a combination of the names of Luciano Sandrone's grandchildren ALEssia and STEfano -- is the new name for Luciano's first wine, the Barolo Cannubi Boschis, which garnered Luciano his early acclaim with the international trade and press. This single-vineyard wine is typically dense and concentrated but shows incredible harmony and balance.

Wine Spectator -January 05, 2024 "This red leans more toward black cherry, blackberry and violet flavors, with tar, tea and autumn wood underbrush accents lurking underneath. Firm, dense and persists on the sinewy finish. Combines…

Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia 2021

Bolgheri DOC Rosso

August 01, 2023
Coming primarily from the estate’s younger vineyards and made with the same passion and attention to detail as Ornellaia, Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia is a true “second vin.” A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot, Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia combines generosity and depth of flavor with an engaging and vibrant personality.

Wine Enthusiast -November 13, 2023 "On the nose, hot, meaty, umami aromas hold court, but dark fruit and a sanguine, tangy metallic component prevent those notes of smoke, pepper and tar from becoming overpowering. Undertones…

Selecció Especial 2019

Priorat, Spain

July 24, 2023
Selecció Especial is 100% Carignane from hundred year old vines in some of the best vineyards in Priorat, in one of the coolest, steepest and highest elevations of the appellation, factors which contribute to optimal phenolic ripeness and help preserve flavors and acidity. A wine of truly profound fruit and minerality.

James Suckling -May 25, 2023 "Impressively complex and deep nose with fine roasted spices, tar, lard, cigar box and plenty of mossy black cherries, wild strawberries and blackberries. Concentrated but nothing hefty here, with a…

Ferrer Bobet 108689

Vinyes Velles 2019

Priorat, Spain

July 21, 2023
Ferrer Bobet's Vinyes Velles is an old vine blend of Carignane (86%) and Grenache (14%). It's produced from some of the best steep slate hillside and terraced vineyards in Priorat. Though the "second wine" of Ferrer Bobet, the initial 2005 release put Ferrer Bobet on the wine world map. Two of the most important publications in Spain named it their wine of the year, and accolades came pouring in from Russia, the UK and the US. It launched the Ferrer Bobet mission of creating wines of elegance and purity, and the message has resonated.

James Suckling -September 28, 2023 "Aromas of cocoa powder, grilled meat, sage, espresso and blackberries. Full-bodied with silky tannins. So elegant and refined with real supple texture and rounded black fruit. Effortless balance. Delicious. 86%…

Priorat, Spain

July 21, 2023
Ferrer Bobet Priorat is the second vintage of a Priorat produced primarily from Ferrer Bobet’s own vineyards. It fulfills the vision of elegance, freshness and detail that were the reasons for starting the estate. It is a Carignan based blend, based on low vigor and high quality rootstocks and clones, aiming for perfectly balanced vines.

Petrolo 108559

Bòggina B 2021

Toscana IGT

July 12, 2023
Bòggina B is a little bit of Burgundy with a Tuscan twist. The wine is made with 100% Trebbiano Toscano. The clone of the Valdarno has been known for its quality since the 1300s, when it was regularly sent to the popes in Rome and the courts of Florence. Petrolo has been using Trebbiano grapes for its sweet vinsanto for decades, but owner Luca Sanjust decided that the time had come for a tribute to the great whites of Valdarno’s past.

James Suckling -September 07, 2023 "This is fresh and perfumed with notes of beeswax, spicy herbs and orange blossom. Nuts. Honey blossom. Beautiful fruit with savory undertones and wet stone minerality. Full-bodied, so persistent and…

Bòggina A 2021

Val d'Arno di Sopra DOC

July 12, 2023
Every year, Petrolo selects a small lot of Bòggina, a wine made purely from their best Sangiovese grapes, to ferment in amphorae. The choice of amphorae has a historical dimension: Terracotta in Tuscany has a history back to the early Etruscan times. The remains of amphorae and other Etruscan relics can be found throughout the Petrolo property, an area that has been settled for thousands of years.

Wine Enthusiast -January 25, 2024 Spring 2024 Issue

Galatrona 2021

Toscana IGT

July 12, 2023
Year after year, Galatrona has quietly been recognized as one of the great wines of Italy and is often referred to as the Petrus of Tuscany. What it truly is, though, is beyond comparison - a wine of utter individuality reflective of the Petrolo estate and its unique location in an all but unknown appellation of Tuscany.

Wine Spectator -October 26, 2023 "Though seamless and lusciously saturated with black currant, blackberry, violet, iron, tobacco and spice aromas and flavors, this red is also solidly built, with polished tannins. Nevertheless, this is more…

Masciarelli Villa Gemma Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva 2018

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

July 10, 2023 - Villa Gemma is the wine that announced Abruzzo to the world, showcasing what the region and grapes of Abruzzo could produce. Villa Gemma Montepulciano Riserva is the only Italian wine with 14 consecutive Tre Bicchieri awards and, more importantly, was the wine that established Abruzzo as capable of making truly distinct, extraordinary wines. Villa Gemma Montepulciano Riserva is a powerfully – almost undeniably – intense wine of character and complexity.

Wine Spectator -August 19, 2024 "This sleek red is dark and deep, but overall fresh and well-balanced on the palate, integrating a rich profile of black cherry coulis, fig cake, melted licorice and cocoa powder…

Vulcanico Falanghina 2022

IGT Basilicata

July 10, 2023
Volcanic wines are currently one of the current hot topics in the wine world, and the Vulcanico Falanghina is having its moment in the sun. The name “Vulcanico” highlights the fact that the grapes are harvested from vineyards near the base of Mount Vulture, an extinct volcano. The Vulcanico combines the freshness, balminess and delicacy of the Falanghina grape with the brightness and generosity that one would expect from a white wine from southern Italy.
