The name 1489 marks the founding year of Château d’Estoublon and takes inspiration from the estate’s rose garden, where delicate blooms meet the intense Provençal sun. Made entirely from estate-grown Rolle in AOP Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence, this luminous gold wine is hand-harvested and crafted with precision. It offers floral and fruity notes with remarkable purity and elegance. Presented in a custom bottle adorned with a rose, 1489 Blanc is a refined, haute-couture expression of Provence.
VINEYARD
The vines face north and northeast and are planted on very deep clay-limestone-marl soils. They are situated on the crater of Provence’s sole volcano, on parcels at altitudes exceeding 1,200 feet. Approximately 10 years old, the vines originate from a massal selection and benefit from the nurturing influence of the Mistral wind.
WINEMAKING
The grapes are manually harvested and sorted both on the vine and in the winery to ensure the highest quality. The wine undergoes fermentation and aging in 500L French oak barrels, with a small portion of new oak used. It is aged for six months on fine lees, which enhances its texture and complexity.
VINTAGE
The 2024 Provence vintage saw a cool, wet spring followed by a hot, dry summer, leading to lower yields and a late harvest. Despite challenges, including drought and potential disease, the vines thrived. Healthy grapes were harvested starting in late August, producing wines with remarkable aromatic potential. The rosés are aromatic and fruit-forward, while reds are supple with mellow tannins. Despite lower yields, the vintage promises wines with fresh, lively character, finesse, and excellent quality.
