Domaine Chanson
Beaune 1er Cru Bressandes 2023
Beaune 1er Cru
Domaine Chanson Beaune Premier Cru Bressandes comes from a 1.1 -acre vineyard located on the upper slopes of Beaune, facing east at the mouth of a north-facing valley. The site’s higher altitude and limestone-rich soils contribute to the wine’s aromatic lift and structural finesse. Named for Jean Bressand, a 13th-century Canon of Beaune, this historic climat consistently produces some of the village’s most respected wines. Brilliant ruby in color, it offers intense aromas of raspberry and cherry with subtle spice and vanilla. The palate is deep and dense, with beautiful tension, precise tannins, and long fruit-driven persistence.
VINEYARD
From a 1.1 hectare, eastern-facing vineyard on limestone soils on the upper part of the hill in Beaune.
WINEMAKING
Hand-picked in small crates, followed by meticulous sorting. Whole bunch pressing. Fermentation in barrel at low temperature for 15 to 20 days, favoring aromatic complexity and freshness. Aged 19 months on fine lees in French oak barrels, 20% new, ranging from one to six years old, alongside 10% in WineGlobe in a 15th-century Bastion. Bottled according to the lunar calendar.
VINTAGE
The 2023 Burgundy vintage saw a warm, damp winter, a mild but fluctuating spring, and a summer of alternating heat and rain. Budbreak was delayed until April, helping vineyards avoid frost. Flowering occurred under ideal conditions in late May and early June. Summer was warm without extreme heat, though rainfall increased mildew pressure. Harvest began in early September, with some green harvesting needed. The vintage is both generous and high-quality, with wines showing balance and aging potential.
TASTING NOTE
Deep crimson. Intense aromas of ripe raspberry and red currant with licorice and spice. Complex and broad-shouldered on the palate, with a tight texture, well-defined tannins, and a long, generous finish.

Reviews

James Suckling - May 27, 2025 "Aromas of Meyer lemons, citrus oil, white flowers and flint. The palate is tightly wound with great energy, tension, linear acidity and a textural mouthfeel. A really fresh and precise chardonnay with great aging potential. The premier bottling of this wine."

Wine Enthusiast - July 28, 2026

Wine Spectator - December 15, 2025 "An expressive white, exuding peach, pear and lemon flavors wrapped in an embrace of toasty oak. Backed by vibrant acidity, this stays long and balanced on the finish."
