Rully sits at the northern end of the Côte Chalonnaise, where the hillsides produce some of southern Burgundy’s most precise and aromatic Chardonnay. It is an appellation that punches above its weight, consistently delivering wines of real freshness and mineral character at a fraction of the price of its neighbors to the north. Domaine Chanson’s 9.6-hectare holding spans both south-east and south-west facing slopes on clay and limestone soils, a breadth of exposure that brings complexity and balance to the blend. Pale gold in color, it opens with very fresh floral fragrances, citrus, and a hint of mineral and fine woody character, with a precise, well-balanced palate and a fresh, pure finish that captures exactly what Rully does best.
VINEYARD
Domaine Chanson's Rully vineyard covers 9.6 hectares on the hillsides at the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, with both south-east and south-west exposures across clay and limestone soils. The dual exposure gives the wine a balance of freshness and ripeness, while the clay and limestone terroir is ideally suited to expressing the purity and aromatic character of Chardonnay. Rully is one of the southern Burgundy's most reliable and rewarding appellations for white wine, and this holding is among the most significant in the appellation.
WINEMAKING
Careful selection of grapes, followed by partial destemming. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at low temperature for 15 to 20 days. Aged 15 months in French oak barrels, one to six years old, with 20% new oak and classic Burgundian toasting, bringing roundness and delicacy to the wine.
VINTAGE
2024 began with a mild winter and an early bud break, tempered by scattered frost episodes in spring. Heavy rains, thunderstorms, and reduced sunshine through spring and summer created sustained disease pressure and uneven ripening across the region. It was a demanding vintage that required exceptional care and skill in both the vineyard and the cellar. The wines that emerged reflect that effort: balanced and characterful, shaped as much by the hands that tended them as by the season itself.
TASTING NOTE
Pale gold. Very fresh floral fragrances with citrus notes and a hint of mineral and fine woody character. Precise and well-balanced on the palate, with beautiful aromatic purity and a fresh finish.

Corton-Vergennes is one of Burgundy's most storied Grand Cru parcels: a tiny 0.6-hectare plot on the Corton hill, once owned by Charles Gravier, Count of Vergennes, the French statesman who signed the Treaty of Alliance with Benjamin Franklin. Chanson is one of the major owners of Clos des Mouches with a vineyard of 4.5 hectares. Ideal location on the hill at the southern end of the vineyards of Beaune on a spur pointing toward Pommard. A plot of 2.5 hectares is planted with Pinot Noir on a limestone subsoil covered with clay.
