Les Grèves takes its name from the sandy and gravely soils of the Mont Battois hillside, facing Beaune, where clay and sand produce a Pinot Noir of remarkable purity and texture. Domaine Chanson’s 2-hectare parcel sits directly adjacent to the Clos des Fèves, separated only by a narrow path, on an east-facing slope that brings freshness and precision to the fruit. Aged 20 months in French oak, the wine opens with aromas of ripe black berries and a hint of vanilla, leading to a complex, tight, and dense palate of velvety texture, well-integrated tannins, and a long, fruity finish.
VINEYARD
Les Grèves sits on the Mont Battois hillside, facing Beaune, where the name itself tells the story of the terroir: "grèves" refers to the sandy and gravely soil that defines the site. Domaine Chanson's 2-hectare parcel is east-facing and planted to Pinot Noir on clay and sand, separated from the Clos des Fèves by nothing more than a narrow path. The sandy soils contribute to the wine's characteristic purity and velvety texture, giving Les Grèves a suppleness and finesse that set it apart within the Beaune Premier Cru landscape.
WINEMAKING
Hand-picked in small crates, followed by meticulous sorting. Partial destemming at 50%, followed by cooling of the bunches to 8 to 10°C for a 10-day prefermentation cold maceration. Fermentation in small-volume stainless steel tanks, with punch-downs and pump-overs adapted to each appellation to extract color and aroma. Gentle gravity pressing ensures delicate extraction. Aged 20 months on fine lees in French oak barrels, 25% new, ranging from one to six years old. Bottled according to the lunar calendar.
VINTAGE
2024 began with a mild winter and an early bud break, tempered by scattered frost episodes in spring. Heavy rains, thunderstorms, and reduced sunshine through spring and summer created sustained disease pressure and uneven ripening across the region. It was a demanding vintage that required exceptional care and skill in both the vineyard and the cellar. The wines that emerged reflect that effort: balanced and characterful, shaped as much by the hands that tended them as by the season itself.
TASTING NOTE
Bright ruby. Aromas of ripe black berries with a hint of vanilla. Complex and pure on the palate, with a tight, dense, velvety texture, well-integrated tannins, and a long, fruity finish.

Chanson is one of the major owners of Clos des Mouches with a vineyard of 4.5 hectares. Ideal location on the hill at the southern end of the vineyards of Beaune on a spur pointing toward Pommard. A plot of 2.5 hectares is planted with Pinot Noir on a limestone subsoil covered with clay.
