Atzei
Saragat Vermentino 2020
Isola dei Nuraghi IGP
Vermentino is synonymous with Sardinian wine, and Atzei’s take on it shows how enjoyable the varietal can be. Blending coastal vineyards with higher elevation sites provides simultaneous refreshment and depth.
Vineyard

As the grapes are sourced from a number of vineyards across the area of Mogoro, the wine expresses a range of elevations, exposures, soil types, and micro-climates. Coastal vineyards provide acidity and a refreshing saline character, while further inland the wines show more ripeness and structure. Soils are composed mostly of sand and volcanic sediment.
Winemaking

After a short skin maceration, the vinification is conducted avoiding contact with oxygen to preserve. The fermentation is at controlled temperature and with use of selected yeasts. Batonnage in steel tanks for 40 days.
Tasting Note

Aromas of rosemary and elderberry flowers, white pulp fruit, yellow and lychee. The taste is soft at the start, then savory and lively, with good structure, with excellent alcoholic balance.

Saragat Cannonau
Cannonau di Sardegna DOC
50-60 year old vines compose the core of Atzei’s Cannonau, lending a notable strength and concentration to the wine. The thoughtful winemaking rounds out the body and provides a surprisingly fresh take on this well respected variety.

Saragat Monica
Monica di Sardegna DOC
While generally not vinified as a mono-varietal, Atzei found their sources of Monica to be exemplary on their own. One of Sardinia’s most widely planted varietals, the style is refreshing and uplifting, with a brief period in small format oak providing an extra layer of body and complexity.
