Domaine des Baumard’s Quarts de Chaume is renowned the world over as the greatest example of this small, 110-acre vineyard that was recognized as the first official “Grand Cru” of the Loire in 2011. Baumard owns 6 hectares of vines in this perfectly-exposed, steeply-terraced vineyard, their Chenin Blanc grapes ripening perfectly in most years, often enriched by botrytis. The wines are always long-lived, and in great vintages can be almost immortal, improving for decades.
