Dog Point Vineyard 2783

Pinot Noir 2015

Marlborough

August 09, 2018
Dog Point's renown as a Sauvignon Blanc producers has done nothing to lessen the enthusiasm around their Pinot Noir, today considered one of the finest in New Zealand. What sets their wine apart is the generosity of the structure, which comes off as rich but not sweet, and the complex mingling of fruit and savory notes.

James Suckling -August 09, 2018 "Impressive red-cherry aromas precede great depth and structured, handy tannins that pull real flavors out of the wine and coat the palate. This holds fresh and rich darker cherries and…

Le Macchiole 2536

Scrio 2013

Bolgheri DOC

August 09, 2018
Scrio was first produced in 1994. Le Macchiole founder Eugenio Campolmi created it because he wanted to produce a wine that would best express his vision of Syrah, his favorite grape variety. Scrio has an original personality and stands apart from Syrah grown in France or anywhere else – it is an extraordinarily compelling meld of deep and velvety Mediterranean fruit with cool climate aromatics and detail. Given the extremely limited production, Scrio is decidedly a hidden gem.

James Suckling -August 09, 2018 “Wow. This is the best syrah in Tuscany this year with incredible depth and beauty. The texture is so plush yet polished and caressing. Full body. The finish of chocolate, hazelnut, smoked…

Paleo Bianco 2016

Toscana IGT

August 09, 2018
First produced in 1991 in tiny quantities for a local restaurant, Paleo Bianco today is a silky, mineral-driven blend of Chardonnay  and Sauvignon Blanc with loads of savory Mediterranean character.

James Suckling -September 11, 2018 "This shows some impressive concentration on the nose with grapefruit rind, apple pie, cream and spices. Full body, layers of intense fruit and a phenolic finish. Drink now."

Wine Advocate -August 09, 2018 “The 2016 Paleo Bianco is mostly Chardonnay (90%) with a smaller element of Sauvignon Blanc (10%). This is a terrific white blend from the Tuscan coast that delivers loads of intensity,…

Tavel 2016

Tavel

August 09, 2018
The Guigal family has been working for decades in Tavel, and today specifically works with 6 growers to produce the traditional style of rosé the region is known for - deep fruit, full of spice you find in the reds of the area, structured, and substantial enough to age. Thank goodness this appellation across the river from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 100% dedicated to rosé, still produces wines of this full-bodied style!

Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media -August 09, 2018 “Limpid orange. Vibrant, mineral-tinged aromas of red currant, raspberry, blood orange and pungent flowers show excellent delineation and minerally lift. Chewy and focused on the palate, offering concentrated red berry,…

Saint-Joseph Blanc 2016

August 09, 2018
While the reds of Saint-Joseph are today one of the most exciting stories in the Rhone Valley, the minuscule production of whites, in the hands of the best producers, are absolutely thrilling and in a perhaps less extreme way than the other great whites of the region, namely in Hermitage and Condrieu. Get them while they're still affordable.

Jeb Dunnuck -August 09, 2018 "The 2016 Saint Joseph Blanc offers terrific notes of white flowers, citrus, and orange blossom, with a medium-bodied, fresh, clean, nicely balanced style. Like all the 2016s here, it’s fresh,…

Saint-Joseph 2015

Saint-Joseph

August 09, 2018
Saint-Joseph today is one of the most exciting appellations in the Rhone Valley, and dare we say all of France. The work by leading producers such as Guigal, energy from young growers, and recognition (really, re-discovery) of sites capable of making wines of extraordinary depth and complexity; of the same family as its famous neighbor in Hermitage, but with a distinct suppleness and elegance.

Wine Enthusiast -February 11, 2020 Full Review To be Posted in May 2020

James Molesworth, Wine Spectator -August 09, 2018 “Inviting, with a core of warm raspberry, fig and blackberry compote flavors with roasted apple wood and anise notes. Shows brambly grip through the finish.”

Ornellaia 2015

Bolgheri DOC Superiore

August 08, 2018
Ornellaia is the estate's "Grand Vin", with exceptional balance, power, elegance, and great aging potential. It faithfully reflects, in every vintage, its nature, site, and distinctive Mediterranean personality.

Jeb Dunnuck -May 10, 2019 "The 2015 Ornellaia isn’t far off the 2016 yet shows a much more sexy, sunny, flamboyant style. Terrific notes of sweet black cherries, Asian spices, graphite, wood smoke, mint, and…

Champagne Bollinger 1968

La Grande Année Rosé

Champagne, France

August 08, 2018
Lily Bollinger agreed to a Bollinger rosé under one condition, it had to be extraordinary, and that is how La Grande Année Rosé was born. A blend like no other, the wine is as an extension to the House's prestige cuvée, La Grande Année, as is the subtle marriage between this great vintage Champagne and the addition of red wine from a unique plot, the legendary Côte aux Enfants.

Wine Advocate -August 13, 2018 “Very fresh and elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied, dense, complex and structured rosé with a long, intense and well-structured finish that reveals the youthful soul of this…

Champagne Bollinger 1912

R.D.

Champagne, France

August 08, 2018
A small revolution in the world of Champagne. In 1967, Bollinger releases R.D. 1952.  There is no comparable Champagne on the market at the time. This bold and brilliant Champagne takes the pillars of what makes Champagne Bollinger so unique, and pushes them to their ultimate level. It is, very simply, a masterpiece.

Wine Advocate -August 13, 2018 “Fermented in oak barrels and aged under natural corks for almost 13 years, Bollinger’s 2004 R. D. Extra Brut blends 66% Pinot Noir with 34% Chardonnay from 16 crus, 88%…

Château de Nalys 1501

Saintes Pierres de Nalys Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2016

Châteauneuf-du-Pape

August 07, 2018
Translated as "holy stones", a play on the soils and history of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the second red wine to Château de Nalys is an altogether different animal.  Differing varietal and plot selections, fermentation, and aging result in a wine that is rich and ample, yet offers immense direct and approachable pleasure; a wine of red fruits, supple structure and brightness.

James Suckling -October 30, 2019 "This has very concentrated fruit presence with an excellent sense of purity and focus. Aromas of rich, dark berries define the nose. Long, rich palate with a striking, layered, spicy…

Wine Advocate -October 31, 2018 “The “second wine” of Nalys, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Saintes Pierres is a blend of 69% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 5% Cinsault, 4% Muscardin, and 1% each Counoise and Mourvèdre.…

Condrieu 2015

Condrieu

August 05, 2018
Condrieu is the ancestral home of the Viognier vine and is the source of one of the world's most exotic white wines. In the mid-20th century, only 20 acres of Viognier remained in Condrieu, leaving the grape and the appellation in serious jeopardy. Guigal was instrumental in bringing this appellation back from near extinction, and today supplements the grapes from their own vineyards with grapes purchased from numerous small growers, ultimately vinifying nearly one-third of the entire appellation.

Wine Advocate -December 27, 2018 “Guigal’s 2015 Condrieu is a blockbuster that, if not for its big brother, would be one of the wines of the vintage. Aged in one-third new barrels and two-thirds in…

Barolo

August 05, 2018
ALESTE - a combination of the names of Luciano Sandrone's grandchildren ALEssia and STEfano -- is the new name for Luciano's first wine, the Barolo Cannubi Boschis, which garnered Luciano his early acclaim with the international trade and press. This single-vineyard wine is typically dense and concentrated but shows incredible harmony and balance.
