Pernand-Vergellesses 1er Cru
Vergelesses is one of Pernand-Vergelesses’ most important Premier Cru sites, tucked into a hollow at the base of the Corton hill where clay soils give the wines a specific structure and depth that sets them apart from their neighbors. Domaine Chanson is among the largest owners in the climat with 5.3 hectares, planted to Pinot Noir on east-facing clay soils. Aged 19 months in French oak, the wine opens with intense aromas of ripe dark fruit, dark cherry, and spice, leading to a complex, well-structured palate of deep, tight texture, well-shaped oak, and a long, generous finish with a hint of minerality.
VINEYARD
Vergelesses is a 5.3-hectare Premier Cru parcel owned entirely by Domaine Chanson, located in a hollow at the base of the Corton hill in Pernand-Vergelesses. East-facing and planted to Pinot Noir on clay soils, the site's position at the foot of the hill gives it a specific structure and mineral character that distinguishes it from the more elevated parcels of the appellation. The clay and limestone soil combination drives concentration and depth in the fruit, producing wines that are powerful without sacrificing elegance.
WINEMAKING
Hand-picked in small crates, followed by meticulous sorting. Partial destemming at 50%, followed by cooling of the bunches to 8 to 10°C for a 10-day prefermentation cold maceration. Fermentation in small-volume stainless steel tanks, with punch-downs and pump-overs adapted to each appellation to extract color and aroma. Gentle gravity pressing ensures delicate extraction. Aged on fine lees in French oak barrels, 25% new, ranging from one to six years old. Bottled according to the lunar calendar.
VINTAGE
2022 brought marked temperature swings through January and February before spring settled in with mild conditions. A cold snap in April gave way to warm May temperatures, but water stress through the season was significant and never fully offset by June storms. Summer brought several prolonged heat waves, with welcome relief arriving only at the end of August. Harvest ran from August 30 to September 13, yielding a generous vintage both in volume and quality. The wines are well-balanced, precise, and concentrated.
TASTING NOTE
Dark ruby. Intense aromas of ripe dark fruit, dark cherry, and spice. Complex and well-structured on the palate, with a deep, tight texture, well-shaped oak, and a long, generous finish with a hint of minerality.

Domaine Chanson Mercurey Premier Cru is made from grapes sourced from carefully selected Premier Cru plots with East and South-East exposures, providing generosity and typicity true to the appellation. Mercurey, the highest-yielding appellation in the Côte Chalonnaise, produces nearly a quarter of its vineyards as Premier Cru. This wine has a bright ruby color with floral aromas and intense red fruit and pepper notes. It has a deep, tight texture, well-crafted structure, and a long finish with crunchy fruit notes.

Chanson is one of the major owners of Clos des Mouches with a vineyard of 4.5 hectares. Ideal location on the hill at the southern end of the vineyards of Beaune on a spur pointing toward Pommard. A plot of 2.5 hectares is planted with Pinot Noir on a limestone subsoil covered with clay.

A Chanson "monopole" in the very heart of the first Growths vineyards of Beaune. The vineyard covering 3.80 ha is located on a mid slope. The "Clos des Fèves" was already known in the 14th century under the latin word "Fae".

"Les Marconnets" are located in the Northern hint of the Appelation Beaune 1er Cru. The name of this vineyard referred to the german tribe "Marcomans". Chanson owns 4 ha, i.e, 40% of the vineyard.

The high proportion of clay gives to the wine a specific minerality which underlines the typicality of the Chardonnay. Gevrey Chambertin is the most famous appellation of the "Côte de Nuits" and the climat "La Perrière" is located in the heart of the Premier Cru area. The grapes are sourced from a partner winegrower but are picked by members of the Chanson team.
