VINTAGE

The 2023 Montalcino vintage faced a turbulent growing season. A cool, rainy spring led to widespread downy mildew, followed by an April frost that damaged early growth. Violent hailstorms in higher elevations further impacted yields. A July-August heatwave stressed vines, but late-summer rain helped balance ripening. A final hailstorm punctured some fruit, adding to the challenges. Despite these difficulties, careful vineyard management helped produce promising wines with good structure.

Wine Enthusiast - December 16, 2025 "The nose opens with savory, umami aromas of hot tar, flint and top soil, then leans into the sweetness of ripe bing and black cherries. The palate uses warm, high-toned citrus notes to outline tangy, tart cherries and berries, above an anchor of cool earth, while vigorous acid adds a lightning bolt of energy."

Colombaiolo Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

From a single plot among the vineyards of Podere Casisano, in one of the highest and best-quality positions in the hills to the south-east of Montalcino, Colombaiolo combines structure, elegance and harmony.

Brunello di Montalcino

Casisano’s Brunello di Montalcino is distinguished by its elegance and its deep ruby red color. It unites potency and refinement and has excellent aging potential. The wine presents a good concentration on the mid-palate and a persistent aftertaste, with a rounded and voluptuous body, and interesting, silky tannins, typical of the prestigious wines of Montalcino. With its tempting perfumes of red berries and its clean freshness, the complexity of this wine presents an excellent balance.
