Force Majeure
Parabellum Coulée 2019
Red Mountain
Made utilizing meticulously farmed grapes from the estate vineyards on Red Mountain and in the Walla Walla Valley, these wines receive the same care and attention in both winemaking and viticulture as the upper-tier Force Majeure wines. The goal with Parabellum is to produce beautiful and approachable wines that are reflective of their varieties and terroir, without constraints on blending. Parabellum provides an opportunity to savor an authentic wine of distinction at a great value.

Most of the fruit comes from the Red Mountain AVA, supplemented by the Walla Walla Valley, all estate managed. Both sites feature high elevation (over 2000 ft in the Walla Walla Valley), steep slopes, and a Basalt bedrock covered by varying depths of loess.

Fermented in concrete from free-run juice. Aged 18 months in 20% large format new French oak. 76% Syrah, 11% Grenache, 7% Mourvèdre, 3% Counoise, 3% Cinsault

Reviews
"Terrific Purity"
Jeb Dunnuck - December 21, 2022
"What can be thought of as the entry level Rhône blend from this estate, the 2019 Parabellum Coulee is based on 76% Syrah, 11% Grenache, 7% Mourvèdre, and the rest Cinsault and Counoise. Rocking red and blue fruits, white pepper, leafy herbs, graphite, and crushed stone define the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, has terrific purity, plenty of tannins, and a great finish." -J.D 7/22
"Beautifully Textured"
Vinous - December 21, 2022
"Showing a good degree of decadence, the beautifully textured ‘Coulee’ by Parabellum revels in its concentrated huckleberry, coffee ground and black tea flavors that mingle with the soft sense of mouthfeel and smoky/salty undercurrents." -OB 11/21

Red Mountain Estate Épinette Blend
Red Mountain
Épinette is a Right-bank Bordeaux-inspired blend, and was named after an avenue in Libourne that leads to Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, the home of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Épinette is also the name of a musical instrument akin to a piano, as well as a word for pine tree, which is a fitting nod to Washington state. The wine itself is a blend of primarily Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, proportions of which change depending on the vintage.

Red Mountain Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Red Mountain
Force Majeure’s Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerful but elegant, full-bodied wine that is grown primarily along the southwest ridge of their estate vineyard, in soils that are deep and loamy but contain many small rocks of fractured basalt, concreted ash and granite from Missoula flood erratics. Coming from 14 year old vines that produce small berries with lots of power and concentration. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
