Sauvignon Blush 2021

Western Cape

Download

One of Bruce’s most technical and exacting wines, the Sauvignon Blush is a delightful wine composed predominately of Sauvignon Blanc with just a splash of Shiraz. Sourced from Bredekloof, Bruce waits patiently to find a tank of Sauvignon Blanc that presents as he wants for this wine: “It should feel like biting into the freshest, most juicy nectarine you’ve ever had!” From this, just a splash of Shiraz is added, to balance and highlight the immense pleasure this wine exudes. Joyfully fruity, with nectarine leading the way and a zip of red currant to compliment.

Vineyard

The Sauvignon Blush is sourced entirely from the winery’s base in Bredekloof. The vineyards in this valley benefit from mountains providing morning shade and a moderate amount of rainfall, providing fresh fruit quality and bright acidity.

Winemaking

A tank selection of the best Sauvignon Blanc is blended with a splash of Shiraz, providing a joyfully enticing wine with a rare level of complexity. Aged several months in stainless steel before blending and bottling.

Vintage

A long, moderate growing season was a welcome respite for the growers in South Africa. Both yields and quality were up, with wines showing particularly fresh and jubilant.

Tasting Note

Perfectly ripe nectarines, juicy and plump, are weighed against a bouquet of deep floral elements, like hibiscus and rose. The texture is pleasurably light without feeling watery, a difficult task to achieve.
