Jean de Roquefeuil

Jean de Roquefeuil, former director of Rieussec, has been writing a new chapter in the story of Domaine d’Aussières since November 2022. His experience and attention to the land are evident in his ability to reveal the splendor and authenticity of each vineyard, even the most demanding ones.
"It’s an amazing place [...] you are often pleasantly surprised. It’s a challenging terroir to reveal, but when you succeed, it’s exceptional."
Jean de Roquefeuil spent his childhood in the countryside of Bordeaux, immersing himself in nature, fields, and the surrounding wildlife. As the son of farmer-winemakers, his passion for vines and terroir led him to an agricultural engineering degree, complemented by a Diplôme National d’Oenologue.
In March 2010, Jean joined the Domaines Barons deRothschild Lafite team at Rieussec in Sauternes as the Vineyard Manager before becoming the Operations Manager in 2017. At the same time, he also took over the reins of Château Paradis
Casseuil, showcasing his mastery of the Entre-deux-Mers terroirs.
In November 2022, he left Sauternes to join Domaine d’Aussières in the Corbières region, located near Narbonne.
From the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea, from fog to sunshine, from sweet wines to red wines, Jean performs a wide-ranging feat. A new challenge that involves understanding the climate and nature of Languedoc.
With an outstanding team, including Jean-Charles Forges as Vineyard Manager and Mathieu Mocquet as Cellar Master, Jean de Roquefeuil aims to make Aussières a place where craftsmanship and creativity come together to best reveal the terroirs of the Corbières.
