Frog's Leap Winery
Concrete Aged Sauvignon Blanc 2024
Rutherford
Sauvignon Blanc has long been central to the Frog’s Leap story and serves as a reference point for restrained Napa Valley whites. Rather than chasing overt tropical ripeness or sweetness, the estate focuses on dryness, mineral structure and aromatic precision. The Concrete Aged Sauvignon Blanc intensifies this focus, employing careful vineyard selection, old vines, fermentation in concrete egg and extended aging sur lie to drive a intense, mineral-driven expression of Sauvignon Blanc fully expressive of its Rutherford origins.
VINEYARD
Fruit is sourced from a selection of estate blocks in Rutherford distinguished by their quality each year, which typically includes the oldest vines. Organic and dry-farmed practices encourage deep root systems and natural balance in the canopy, moderating yields and enhancing concentration without excess sugar accumulation. Soils well-adapted to Sauvignon Blanc and careful harvest timing preserve freshness, ensuring structural tension and varietal clarity in the finished wine.
WINEMAKING
Grapes are harvested at night to protect natural acidity and pressed whole cluster to preserve aromatic purity. Fermentation occurs in concrete eggs at controlled temperatures to maintain varietal clarity and freshness. Aging proceeds in concrete on original fermentation lees, driving a bone dry, intensely mineral and savory expression of Sauvignon Blanc devoid of excess weight. Bottled without filtration.
VINTAGE
A perfect follow-up to the fabulous '23, the 2024 Concrete Aged Sauvignon Blanc benefited from an even, warm growing season with no serious heat spells. Steady warmth pushed ripening evenly, allowing the fruit to retain great acidity and freshness. The 2024 is fruitier and more open than the 2023, yet avoids the tutti-frutti sameness that can mask SB's intrinsic minerality and textural richness.
