Trade Tools

Tenuta Frescobaldi Castiglioni 2020 honors over 700 years of winemaking tradition, with a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Sangiovese. The wine undergoes fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks, followed by 12 months of aging in barriques and 2 months in the bottle. Its vibrant ruby-red color is complemented by aromas of cherry, blackberry, blueberry, and mulberry, with spiced notes of cinnamon, star anise, and black pepper. On the palate, it is soft and enveloping, with resolved tannins and a long, persistent finish.

VINEYARD

Tenuta Castiglioni is situated in the gentle hills of Val di Pesa, where the typical clay soils are ideal for highlighting the fruitiness of the wines. Here the richness of the weather and the soil is expressed in the structure of the wines, thanks to the symbiosis between fresh earth, a mild climate and the afternoon breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea.

WINEMAKING

After the grapes are hand-sorted, a spontaneous alcoholic fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks, with light pumpovers during the first few days. Malolactic conversion occurs in new French oak barriques in which the wine continues to age.

VINTAGE

Spring was mild with well-timed rainfall that supported balanced canopy growth. Summer heat arrived gradually, avoiding stress and preserving acidity. Veraison was uniform, and a dry September ensured selective harvesting at ideal phenolic maturity.

TASTING NOTE

This is a warm, soft and round wine with immense complexity, an intense fruit character and a delicately spicy finish.
