Iron Filbert Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023
Willamette Valley
A fantastic showcase of the winery’s “home property,” the Iron Filbert Vineyard. Aromatically complex, showcasing ripe plums alongside baking spices and sage. The palate is lengthy and rounded from its structured silky tannins and minerality, tasting of candied cherries, toasted chestnuts and slate.
VINEYARD
The Iron Filbert vineyard, located in the Dundee Hills appellation, faces south and features iron-rich volcanic soil embedded with basalt boulders deposited by the glacial flow of the Missoula floods. These soils contribute to developing a vibrant profile, imparting a distinctive minerality that enhances the wine and provides excellent structure and longevity.

VINTAGE
The 2023 Willamette Valley vintage began with a cool, wet spring, delaying bud break until early May. The season then transitioned to a warm, dry summer, which accelerated ripening and led to an early September harvest. The result is wines with beautiful concentration, exceptional freshness, and vibrant flavors. The late bud break and quick flowering, reminiscent of the 2011 vintage, set the stage for a concentrated and well-balanced crop, promising wines with both intensity and elegance.

Reviews
Vinous - July 1, 2025 "The 2023 Pinot Noir Iron Filbert Vineyard is dusty and floral, with a mix of rose petals and crushed violets complementing dried black cherries. It feels silken, revealing depths of mineral-inflected red and blue fruits that take on a more serious character as a cascade of inner florals arches across the senses. Fine-grained tannins wrap the palate with youthful poise. Structured and long, the finish is surprisingly fresh."

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
Willamette Valley, Oregon
The calling card of Domaine Roy & Fils, the Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is the only Pinot from the winery that comes from both estate vineyards–Iron Filbert in Dundee Hills and Quartz Acron in Yamhill-Carlton. The wine sees 15 days of maceration on the skins followed by 10 months of lees aging in barriques, of which only 10% are new oak. The wine expresses the signature style of Domaine Roy & Fils, favoring elegance over power: floral notes mix with lifted red fruit on the nose, followed by a bright, sappy Bing cherry character on the palate.
