Chile’s Value Offering is Established – But is There More Room for Greatness?

James Suckling has released his much-anticipated annual Chilean vintage report. For the past few decades, Suckling has continually reported on the increased quality and production across the board of Chilean wines. As this trend has long been solidified and reflected by consumer trends, Suckling focuses his 2020 report not the established value wines, but instead on wines that showcases the country’s potential of greatness.

Suckling reports that, despite the association with great value wines, Chile is full of “areas and sub-regions that are each very different due to the diverse soils, exposures and climates,” allowing for production of superb wines.

Included in the report are Suckling’s reviews for various Erraruriz wines, including the MAX Sauvignon Blanc 2019 (92 Points), MAX Chardonnay 2019 (91 JS), MAX Pinot Noir 2019 (92 JS), MAX Carmenere 2018 (92 JS) and MAX Cabernet Sauvignon (92 JS).
