About this video

In the ongoing “Neighborhoods of the Russian River Valley”, Gary Farrell Wine Maker Theresa Heredia discusses the Sebastopol Hills. Located in the southern portion of the Russian River Valley, the soils here are mostly Goldridge series sandy loam. This area is cooler than most of the others and is heavily influenced by the Pacific Ocean, due to its proximity to the Petaluma Wind Gap, resulting in a cool, windy and foggy climate that produces lean wines with abundant natural acidity.
