Les Galuches is an organic 7ha plot of Cabernet Franc in sandy soils of Chinon. The wine sees little in the way of winemaking manipulation, allowing the purity of the fruit to shine.
Vineyard
Les Galuches is a 7ha organic site dedicated to Cabernet Franc, located just west of Chinon on the right bank of the Vienne river. The soil is a mix of sandy and gravelly alluvium.
Winemaking
Winemaking here is traditional to the area, meaning neutral vessels were used in it’s production. The wine is bottled in the spring following fermentation, resulting in a fruit-forward and enjoyable style.
Vintage
A fresher, slightly cool vintage for the Loire, with yields reduced by Spring frosts. Some late season rain put pressure on pick times, however many producers reported good quality fruit.
Tasting Note
Plenty of attack without feeling overbearing, the fruit-forward style exhibits fresh red berries set within tightly woven tannins. A versatile wine for food pairings in it’s pristine, perfectly extracted profile.
