Vinicola Cherchi
Cagnulari 2020
Isola dei Nuraghi IGT
Indigenous to Sardinia and grown almost exclusively in this corner of the island, Cherchi’s Cagnulari is the gold standard as to what the variety should taste like. Cultivated by Giovanni Cherchi as a point of regional pride, Cherchi ignored the mid-century trend of replanting old sites with international varieties. The result is more than a nice story though, as the wine itself gives simultaneous joy and nuance in its profile – appealing both to casual and discerning wine palates.
Vineyard

Cherchi works over 30 hectares in the northwestern part of Sardinia, around the town of Usini. Their vineyards are on average 200m above sea level, with mixed calcareous and clay-based soils.
Winemaking

8-10 day skin maceration, 6 months between stainless steel and large neutral oak
Tasting Note

Lively notes of strawberry and cherry conserve, with an invigorating forest floor profile as a compliment. Lightly tannic with medium body
