The Billia line represents an approachable style of Cherchi’s famed indigenous varieties, crafted in stainless steel. This unfussy approach allows the varietal character of the wines to shine and while providing an immensely pleasurable experience. The wine is named after the founder of the winery, Billia Cherchi, who brought the indigenous Cagnulari grape out of near extinction.
Vineyard
Cherchi works over 30 hectares in the northwestern part of Sardinia, around the town of Usini. Their vineyards are on average 200m above sea level, with mixed calcareous and clay-based soils.
Winemaking
Destemmed and pressed into stainless steel, both for fermentation and several months of aging. Maceration for 8-10 days
Tasting Note
Cherry compote and fresh loamy earth, laid over a fine and balanced acidity and soft yet present tannins.
