The Ockfener Bockstein is a beautiful single vineyard hillside made up mostly of devonian slate, with streaks of greywacke running through it. Replete with ripe citrus and tropical fruit, the wine displays beautiful texture and weight that is perfectly balanced by it’s racey acidity.
Winemaking
All the Van Volxem wines are fermented with native yeast. This is aged in a mix of stainless steel and fouder, from Roman’s family forest, for 8 months.
Tasting Note
There is a lot of round, ripe orchard fruit in this off dry selection, although the mineral through-line that runs through Van Volxem is ever present. The finish is characterized by mouthwatering acidity and spiced fruit.
