Ridolfo

Toscana IGT

Download

The IGT Ridolfo is a surprisingly magical union of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%) and Pugnitello (50%). This wine perfectly integrates internationality and tradition and offers another interpretation of the splendid terroir of Monti in Chianti, within Chianti Classico. It is exclusively bottled in Magnums and Jeroboams, with hand numbered bottles.

Vineyard

Geologically, the territory of Monti in Chianti is mainly composed of limestone and marlstone that are rich in calcium (Marna Calcarea) and contain a certain amount of clays. Harvest is manual and carried out in three phases to guarantee that the grapes are selected and picked only when they are perfectly ripe. Grapes are collected into small baskets.

Winemaking

The wine is produced over 24 months in Allier oak barriques and tonneaux, followed by 36 months of bottle aging. It is available in limited edition Magnum and Jeroboam bottles, with hand-numbered bottles.

Vintage Note

While frost, drought and heat diminished yields and overconcentrated some fruit, great wines exist from talented winemakers who knew how to manage over extraction

Tasting Note

The Cabernet Sauvignon shines with its refined fruity notes (blackberry, dried plum) and a well-integrated balsamic component (eucalyptus). The Pugnitello provides wilder fruit, with perfectly balanced spicy notes (pepper, licorice).

Reviews

Vinous - June 1, 2023 The 2017 Ridolfo is a heady, exotic wine. Plush and opulent, with bright acids and nearly seamless tannins, the 2017 Ridolfo is quite the wine. Mocha, espresso, licorice, menthol, pine and dried herbs all build in a potent, deeply structured wine. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Pugnitello is striking.

Wine Spectator - A fresh, focused red, with dense tannins providing support for blackberry, black currant, iron, spice and leafy flavors. Firm and vibrant, with a lingering aftertaste. Linear in profile, with dense, slightly rustic tannins on the finish.
