Vineyard
The fruit for this Pinot Grigio is sourced exclusively from the Tommasi Family’s hilltop vineyards in Castelnuovo del Gara. Located south-east of Lake Garda on glacial soils, these vineyards are perfectly suited to retain the fruits’ natural acidity while allowing for slow flavor concentration. All vineyards are farmed using sustainable farming methods, notably the absence of pesticides.
Fermentation
After careful night harvest to preserve aromatics, the fruit is vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, with fermentation lasting 8 days. Maturation lasts 3 months, additionally in stainless steel.
Tasting Note
Rio is a delicate and soft wine with a bright straw yellow color with a green shimmer. On the nose ripe fruit, with typical hints of tropical fruit. In the mouth it is full and smooth, harmonious and pleasantly fruity, with an elegant aromatic persistence.
Food Pairing
A fine aperitif, Rio is also a superb match for seafood salads, meat or fish based appetizers. It’s bold flavors and bright acid also stand up to lighter preparations of pork and chicken.
