Poggio al Tufo
Rompicollo 2022
Toscana IGT
Poggio al Tufo Rompicollo is a Tuscan “Super Value,” crafted from a single-vineyard site in the Alta Maremma. The vineyard, with its southern exposure, abundant sunlight, and tufo-rich volcanic soil, produces a blend of 60% Sangiovese and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats and aged for 12 months in large Slavonian oak casks, Rompicollo offers a deep ruby red color and an elegant bouquet of ripe berry fruits, dried herbs, and sweet spices. Full-bodied with velvety tannins, it has a perfect balance of richness and suppleness.
VINEYARD
The grapes for this blend are primarily sourced from a single vineyard site, Rompicollo, which benefits from southern exposure and volcanic soil rich in tufo, a particular type of volcanic rock.
VINTAGE
The 2022 Tuscan growing season saw a dry winter, a warm spring, and an exceptionally hot summer with prolonged drought conditions. Concerns over fruit quality led viticulturists to employ irrigation and shading techniques. Fortunately, rains in late July and early August helped rehydrate berries, aligning harvest timing with historical averages. Cooler temperatures in late September preserved freshness, though wines generally show slightly above-average alcohol and pH. Overall, the wines from this vintage are rich and muscular.
TASTING NOTE
A deep, bright ruby red in color, on the nose it offers an elegant, varied bouquet of ripe berry fruits, dried aromatic herbs and delicate sweet spices. On the palate it is full-bodied, mellow and mouth-filling.

Vermentino
This single-vineyard Vermentino exhibits all of the characteristics for which Tuscan Vermentino is renowned, in particular its mineral notes, a result of the volcanic soil on which the vineyards lie. This bright, crisp wine has both wonderful freshness as well as the balanced quality typical of the varietal.

Cabernet Sauvignon
Poggio al Tufo Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine with an exuberant and decisive character that clearly reflects the Tuscan coastal terroir from which the grapes are sourced. The Rompicollo vineyard is located in the town of Pitigliano and benefits from a Southern exposure and volcanic soil rich in tufo, a particular type of volcanic rock, which lends a marked minerality to the wine.
