Vineyard
The Pietramaggio Chianti Classico comes from a single high-altitude vineyard in Greve, near the historic Castle of Montefioralle which was built in the 13th century. It sits at nearly 1,500 feet above sea level and is composed mostly of clay and limestone. Made primarily from Sangiovese and other indigenous, red Tuscan grapes in a fresh, vibrant style, this Chianti Classico shows how winemaker Tommaso Inghirami is blending tradition with modernity. In that vein, this wine is juicy and loaded with spiced cherry and plum notes on the palate, rounded by creamy tannins. It’ an easy-drinking, everyday pleasure that is still true to its place of origin.
Winemaking
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures before the wine is transferred to barrels for malolactic fermentation. It ages for 12 months in oak barrels.
Vintage
In 2020, an early frost killed some potential fruit at budbreak, but the summer warmed up to produce juicy wines with good ripeness.
