Old Vine Ranch

Rosé 2024

California

Download

Inspired by Marietta’s original cult wine, Old Vine Red, the Old Vine Rosé draws on the same simple focus to make delicious wines that bring people together. Made in a Provençale, direct-press style from some of the oldest Syrah and Grenache vines in California, it is fresh, nuanced, and perfectly balanced to enjoy with food or on its own. As always with the “OVR” wines, it delivers a lot more substance and pleasure than one might expect. This rosé opens with a radiant bouquet of ruby grapefruit, orange sorbet, and potpourri, underscored by a whisper of fresh mint. Its hue evokes rose quartz and sunlit sandstone, shimmering with exceptional purity and vitality. Its palate has a burst of tangy crispness, succulent red currant, and a texture steeped in minerality that lingers gracefully. Hints of pink peppercorn encircle a plush core, finishing with just the right touch of zesty brightness. Invigorating, spirited, and utterly delightful.

Vineyard

The fruit for this wine comes from Marietta’s McDowell Valley estate, which is renowned for Rhône varieties and home to some of the oldest Syrah and Grenache Gris in California. These unique vines are six feet tall, head-trained, and dry farmed. This vineyard, in a valley surrounded by mountains, benefits from the cold sink that ensures cools nights and preserves acidity and freshness.

Winemaking

The fruit is hand-harvested early in the season and whole-cluster pressed before stainless steel fermentation. It is then aged in neutral oak barrels for three months with weekly lees stirring to soften the edges of this bright and vibrant rosé.

Vintage

A wet winter and cool spring in Mendocino County gave way to summer warmth, yielding smaller clusters with concentrated color and a bright, fruit-driven profile.

Tasting Note

This rosé offers a bouquet of ruby grapefruit, orange sorbet, and potpourri, with a hint of mint. Vibrant and mineral-driven, its palate bursts with tangy red currant, a plush core, and a zesty, lingering finish. Bright and utterly delightful.

Sauvignon Blanc

California, United States

Inspired by Marietta's original cult wine, Old Vine Red, the Old Vine Sauvignon Blanc draws on the same simple focus to make delicious wines that bring people together. Made in a fresh, fruity style, this Sauvignon Blanc is somewhere between New Zealand and the Loire in its tropical fruit profile; bright and juicy with lovely white floral notes wrapped around a papaya and grapefruit core.

Old Vine Red

California, United States

Affectionately known as "OVR," Marietta's Old Vine Red is a proprietary red wine made to replicate the field blends of the old vineyards in Sonoma and Mendocino counties. A groundbreaking combination of grape varieties and multiple vintages first produced in 1982, this wine has blazed the path for red blends for decades. With an historic underground following, it is one of the longest lasting and best known red blends produced today.

Cabernet Sauvignon

California, United States

Inspired by Marietta's iconic Old Vine Red, this Cabernet marks its debut in the Old Vine Ranch series. Crafted with minimal intervention to let the fruit shine, the wine is bold and rich, with notes of spice and oak surrounding a core of black currant—delicious and inviting.
