L'Etoile 2018

Lalande-de-Pomerol

Download

The name of the wine and related vineyard, L’Étoile, evokes Saint-James of Compostela (in Latin, campus stellae means the path of the star) and the time of the great pilgrimages. The vineyard covers 5 hectares, on gravelly soil with sand and clay. A blend of Merlot (80% in general), Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 18 months in once-used barrels from Vieux Château Certan.

Vineyard

This cuvée, located in the heart of the Lalande de Pomerol appellation, embodies the full finesse that Merlot can express on gravelly soils.
5 hectares.

Winemaking

80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged 18 months in once-used barrels from Vieux Château Certan.

Vintage Note

It is a unique vintage for Bordeaux not only because of its challenging grape growing season but because it created wonderful wines with a beautiful depth of ripe fruit and polished, strong tannins. These wines have an impressive underlying freshness despite one of the warmest and driest late summers and harvests on record.

Tasting Note

“Aromas of blueberry, black tea, pine needle, dark chocolate and walnut. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, velvety tannins and a creamy texture. Chewy and concentrated. Precise.” 92JS, 1/20/2022
