La Lupinella
Rossa 2019
Chianti Superiore Do
A charming Chianti that balances traditional and modern winemaking to create a refreshing take on Sangiovese. Three different ageing processes go into craft the profile here: cement, tonneau and large oak barrels.
Vineyard
Sant’Ansano is a hamlet of the Municipality of Vinci, which is the birthplace of Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci. The wine zone is part of the Montalbano Hills, an area that has long been suited for the production of wine and was recognized in 1796 by the Bando Granducale as a prestigious wine area.
Winemaking
Carefully selected grapes are harvested by hand. Maceration of two weeks in cement tanks followed by 10 months of aging between different vessels: the first third in cement, the second third in tonneau of 600 litres and the remaining time in large wood barrels of 30 hectolitres. The wine ages in bottle for another six months.
Vintage
Balanced by late Spring rains and a hot, dry summer, resulting in structured but lifted wines.
Tasting Note
A feeling of freshness prevails on the palate thanks to well-balanced tannins that allow for easy drinkability and a long finish. A brambly fresh red berry character mingles politely with a wild savory character, typical of Sangiovese.
