Domaine Rewa
Central Otago Pinot Noir 2022
Central Otago
Domaine Rewa’s Pinot Noir is a flag bearer for Central Otago’s terroir, with carefully considered winemaking allowing the varietal character from this place shine. A wine of both depth and finesse, a moderate amount of oak (25% new, French) rounds out the palate along with a spicy cut from balanced stem inclusion.
Vineyard
Biodynamically farmed from a 5.5hs site. 215m above sea level, vines 23 years average age, alluvial soils.
Winemaking
Carefully hand harvested grapes were batch fermented. 18% whole bunch with the balance of the fruit de-stemmed without crushing. Fermented on skins for around three weeks. The resulting wine was gently pressed to French oak barrels for maturation.
Vintage
An overall balanced year with healthy grapes at harvest, though low winds and extra rain in February created some disease pressure.
Tasting Note
Raspberry, black plum and blackberry. Violet, coffee and tobacco with a hint of mushroom. Vibrant, medium bodied with ample fine grain tannins. Very complex with a long berry finish.
