Domaine David Lefort
Rully La Chaume 2019
Rully
One of the first wines David began producing, starting in 2013. Sourced from two hectares in Rully, the site displays a duality below prime ripening exposure and a microclimate that favors cooling winds. The result is a surprising amount of balance and freshness that permeats vintage to vintage.
Vineyard
La Chaume is at the southern end of the Rully appellation, on a sunny plateau near Mercurey. Less wind protection allows for a generally cooler site. The soil is deep and rich in clay.
Winemaking
La Chaume is done in two Demi Muids that are new. There is a thickness and richness that comes through in the wines from this site.
Vintage
A strong vintage, with ripe fruit and strong yields despite a relatively dry season.
Tasting Note
A beautiful blend of ripe orchard fruit, refreshing minerality and mellow creaminess, with considerate oak use rounding out the profile.
