Domaine David Lefort
Mercurey 1er Cru Champs Martin
Champs Martin is one of the most prized vineyards in Mercurey, with a southwestern exposure and long even slope producing consistently good vintages for those growing there.
Vineyard
The Champs Martin is from 70 year old vines on southwest exposure, clay-limestone soil. Distinct minerality.
Winemaking
90% of the wines are aged in wood that is in a tonnerlie from Mercurey, which sources wood from the surrounding forest. 13 months in 30% new oak, spontaneous fermentation.
Vintage
A strong vintage, with ripe fruit and strong yields despite a relatively dry season.
Tasting Note
On the palate it is a well-rounded wine, with fine substance. The attack is both tender and fleshy, with juicy fruits of beautiful clarity. The whole is quite fresh and elegant, finishing with blackcurrant and persistent spices.
