The soil consists of coarse sands with granite pebbles. Vinified plot-by-plot, the Gamay Noir is destemmed and macerated for about 2-3 weeks in stainless steel, with pumping over and racking, before oak vat maturation. VINEYARD

The vines, boasting an impressive 40 years of age, draw from this exceptional terroir to produce grapes of unparalleled quality, yielding wines that encapsulate the essence of Fleurie's renowned elegance and character. The soil, characterized by coarse sand interspersed with granite pebbles, fosters unique mineral qualities in the wine.

WINEMAKING

70% of the grapes undergoes a meticulous destemming process before embarking on fermentation in stainless steel tanks, where indigenous yeasts initiate the transformation. Throughout this crucial stage, pumping-over is delicately practiced, omitting punching down techniques to uphold the wine's inherent fruitiness and freshness. Following fermentation, the wine embarks on a 15-month aging process in oak barrels sourced from Seguin Moreau, where it develops complexity and depth, while still retaining the delicate nuances of its terroir.

VINTAGE

A fiercely hot and dry summer in 2023 led to reduced yields, but the concentrated fruit from the arid conditions resulted in fantastically rich and flavorful wines.

TASTING NOTE

This wine presents an enchanting bouquet on the nose, characterized by floral aromas, sweet spices, and the tantalizing scent of very ripe red fruits. It unveils a palate of remarkable elegance and balance, showcasing the nobility of gamay.

FOOD PAIRING

Pairs with savory herb-crusted lamb chops, grilled portobello mushrooms stuffed with goat cheese, a tangy ratatouille, or a gourmet spinach and feta stuffed chicken breast.

James Suckling - March 6, 2025 "Packed with red and black berries with floral delicacy, this beautiful Fleurie is so elegant and polished on the lively, medium-bodied palate. Builds gracefully in the long, filigreed, stony finish. Excellent length. From 1 hectare of 40-year-old vines with granitic soil. From organically grown grapes. Matured for 7 months in a large oak vat."
