Castello Nipozzano
Montesodi 2021
Chianti Classico DOCG
Montesodi is Nipozzano’s first single-vineyard wine, created in 1974 from the eponymous vineyard with particularly stony soils. A Terraelectae (single-vineyard) Chianti Rùfina, Montesodi showcases a lively and elegant expression of Sangiovese. Situated at 400 meters above sea level, with schist soils and a south-west exposure, the vineyard benefits from significant temperature shifts, contributing to the wine’s complexity and remarkable longevity. As one of the first 100% Sangiovese wines in the region, Montesodi represents the epitome of Chianti Rùfina.
Vineyard
The Montesodi vineyard lies 400 meters above sea level, the Sangiovese vines planted in schist soils with a magnificent southwest exposure.
Vintage
Well-timed rains and a dry summer struck a balance between good groundwater reserves and some hydric stress. 2021 is a rich vintage, with good energy and vigor.
Tasting Note
The nose shows notes of strawberry bush, blood orange and menthol characteristic of the vineyard. A fresh, silky palate flows into a long, harmonious finish.
