Montesodi was Nipozzano’s first single-vineyard wine when it was created in 1974, grown from a vineyard with particularly stony soils of the same name. Designated as a Terraelectae or single-vineyard Chianti Rùfina, this wine is extremely lively and elegant, a Sangiovese that reflects a sense of its place.
Vineyard
The Montesodi vineyard lies 400 meters above sea level, the Sangiovese vines planted in schist soils with a magnificent southwest exposure.
Vintage
Well-timed rains and a dry summer struck a balance between good groundwater reserves and some hydric stress. 2021 is a rich vintage, with good energy and vigor.
Tasting Note
The nose shows notes of strawberry bush, blood orange and menthol characteristic of the vineyard. A fresh, silky palate flows into a long, harmonious finish.
