Nina Vespolina 2022
Colline Novaresi Doc
Vespolina is an indigenous grape to this part of Italy, often used in blends to provide a racy, spicy character to a blend. The vineyard has optimal exposures for ripening and features clay and silt-dense soils. Winemaking is uncomplicated, allowing a precise profile of this unique varietal.
Vineyard

The vineyard used for the Vespolina extends over a total area of approximately 7000 square meters. The soil is composed of a superficial layer of clay and silt which are replaced by sand and stones in the deeper section. The exposure is optimal in this area, the sun and the breeze coming from Monte Rosa translate into an ideal climate for the ripening process of the grapes.
Winemaking

The bunches were destemmed and the alcoholic fermentation was carried out by native yeasts in a steel tank at a controlled temperature. Two soft pumping overs per day during the maceration period allowed the fermentation cap to always remain well moist and fragrant. From here the clarification decanting began, all the vinification was carried out inside steel tanks, until bottling in March.
Vintage

This hot vintage made for drier grapes than usual, as well as being more concentrated, resulting in a lower yield, but great quality.
Tasting Note

Intensely vinous, with notes of forest red fruits, violets, and white pepper spice.
