Ammura
Etna Rosso 2022
Etna
Ammura Etna Rosso shows bright ruby with garnet reflections. Aromas of wild berries, cherry, pomegranate, black pepper, and smoky volcanic stone lead to an elegant, harmonious palate with silky tannins and lively, persistent freshness. Crafted to preserve Etna’s signature mineral tension and the lifted aromatics of Nerello Mascalese, the wine emphasizes finesse over weight, making it exceptionally versatile at the table while still delivering the depth and character expected of high-elevation volcanic reds.
VINEYARD
Nerello Mascalese is grown on Mount Etna’s volcanic slopes, where altitude and mineral-rich lava soils support a long ripening season and naturally preserve freshness. The variety’s sensitivity to terroir makes site expression central to the wine’s identity, producing a refined structure and a medium-bodied frame with ethereal mineral tension. Ammura’s approach emphasizes vineyard conditions that translate into bright red fruit definition, savory complexity, and a distinctly volcanic finish rather than overt richness.
WINEMAKING
The grapes are destemmed and macerated in stainless steel, fermenting 12–15 days at 64–72°F with daily cap wetting. After fermentation, the wine is racked and the pomace gently pressed. Natural malolactic fermentation follows. The wine then ages 6 months in stainless steel and 12 months in 20-hectoliter oak barrels, developing structure, elegance, and refined complexity while preserving the bright red fruit and minerality that reflect Etna’s unique volcanic terroir.

Vinous - August 21, 2025 "The 2022 Etna Rosso mixes wild strawberries with lavender and sweet spice to form its inviting bouquet. This is round and fruit-forward with a solid core of ripe cherries and blueberries underscored by crunchy mineral tones. It leaves a youthful inner tension and nuance of tart cranberry that add chewy depth. The finish is long yet fresh."

Wine Spectator - October 6, 2025 "A harmonious red, offering a subtle range of plumped black raspberry and black cherry fruit, plus dried rosemary, anise and cocoa powder accents. This is well-meshed, with chewy tannins and minerally hints of smoke and stone on the finish."

Wine Enthusiast - December 16, 2025 "On the nose, tangy, tart, barely ripe red berries glint above a savory backbone of pepper, crushed rocks and shells. On the palate, strawberries and raspberries lead the way riding a current of citrus, until a finish of salt and pepper. Decisive tannins stand up to vibrant acid."
