Why Now Is the Best Time to Drink Aged California Wines

Robb Report contributor Ted Loos published a story about how older vintages of California Cabernet Sauvignons are having a moment, especially the lower alcohol styles from Napa produced before 1990, like Chateau Montelena. He explains that several restaurants and retail shops are adding library vintage wines to their lists as they are at their prime to drink – offering their customers immediate pleasure in favor of purchasing a bottle to age 20+ years. One of the bottles he suggests seeking out is the Chateau Montelena 1985 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. There are a lot of good notes in this story that you can read HERE.
