About this video
In the ongoing “Neighborhoods of the Russian River Valley”, Gary Farrell Wine Maker Theresa Heredia discusses the Santa Rosa Plain. As the name suggests, this neighborhood is the flattest area in the AVA. The vineyards here are mostly comprised of the clay-based Huichica series soil, and vineyard slopes are minimal. Due to its lower elevation, the cold air sinks down creating an area that is sometimes susceptible to frost. Wines here tend to be soft with balanced acidity and a backbone of minerality.
