About this video
In the ongoing “Neighborhoods of the Russian River Valley”, Gary Farrell Wine Maker Theresa Heredia discusses the Green Valley. This is the only neighborhood that is an official sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley. Located on the western side of the Russian River Valley and close to the Pacific Ocean, Green Valley is the coolest and foggiest region of the RRV and was identified as an independent appellation due to the fog that settles in late afternoon and persists until late morning hours. Its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean creates a unique growing climate for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Its soils are largely dominated by Goldridge series and the elevation ranges, depending on the vineyard site. The resulting wines possess a dark fruit profile with nicely developed tannins and a gentle, soft mouthfeel.
