Remírez de Ganuza
Rioja Gran Reserva
Rioja
The Gran Reserva is made mostly from Tempranillo (86%), and only in exceptional vintages with supreme age ability. The vines are on average about 60 years of age, and the wine is aged for over 40 months in new French oak.
Vineyard
With six vineyards situated in the foothills of the Cantabrian mountain range, Remírez de Ganuza blends some of the best terroirs from Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta. The combination of high elevation, clay/limestone soils, increased oceanic influence, and 50 year old average vines produces low-yielding vines with exceptional quality.
Winemaking
Grapes are manually harvested and transported in 12kg boxes, where they reside in thermo-regulated cooling chambers for 24 hours. Grapes are destemmed before fermentation in combinations of 7000l French oak vats, stainless steel and concrete. The wine is then aged in new French oak for 40 months.
Tasting Note
Bing cherry and strawberry compote, blended with an earthy incense and luxurious, refined texture.
