The Bubbly Side of Bond: Bollinger 007 Special Cuvée

Wine with Wanda highlighted Champagne Bollinger in her most recent post. She highlighted the new Special Cuvée 007 Limited Edition Box, which was created to celebrate the upcoming release of No Time To Die. She offers background on Bollinger’s longstanding relationship with the Bond franchise, before adding, “Of course, the association with Bond adds an extra dash of sex appeal to Bollinger’s elegant image, but what really matters is the quality of the bubbly within the bottle.”

As she continues, “Special Cuvée is Bollinger’s flagship wine and doesn’t disappoint. True to the Bollinger style, Pinot Noir is the majority of the blend at 60%. Balanced out with 25% Chardonnay and 15% Meunier, Special Cuvée is composed primarily of reserve wines, part of which have been aged in magnum for 5-15 years. Complex, crisp, fresh, spicy, and full of finesse, it is a beautiful bubbly. Pop the cork on a bottle of Bollinger 007 Special Cuvée and unleash your international woman/man/person of mystery.”

Special Cuvée is a Champagne that defies category. Pinot Noir, the most demanding grape in the region, makes up at least 60 percent of the blend, giving structure, depth and signature red fruit. One-third is fermented in oak barrels, adding silkier texture and layered flavor. Reserve wines aged in magnums under cork for up to 15 years are hand disgorged into the blend, bringing richness and complexity. Aged much longer than most Champagnes, Special Cuvée offers freshness, savory nuance and velvety texture. It is a true expression of Bollinger’s devotion at every step.

Bollinger is one of the rare Grande Marques that’s still family owned. Known for its rich, elegant and polished style of Champagne, their outstanding wines are the result of rigorous attention to detail and incredibly labor-intensive practices that few houses are willing to undertake. Underscoring its excellence, Bollinger has remained British secret agent James Bond's Champagne of choice since 1973.
