Wine writer Allison Levine shared a recent Gary Farrell Winery virtual Pinot Noir tasting experience on Please The Palate. She leads off by noting that it is a “sexy and seductive grape that expresses where it is grown,” and that Gary Farrell is regarded as one of the top Pinot Noir producers.
Levine offers a nice historical background on the property and of Winemaker Theresa Heredia’s experience, adding that she “tasted through Pinot Noirs from different areas of the Russian River Valley, as well as the Sonoma Coast, Fort Ross-Seaview and Santa Maria Valley.”
One of the standout wines from her experience included the Hallberg Vineyard 2016. “A blend of all blocks from the Hallberg Vineyard, this wine is the most rustic and deep with aromas of dark cherry, currants, violets, cola and black tea. The concentrated fruit on the palate and grippy tannins make for a balanced, yet powerful, wine.” Read the full write up HERE
