VINTAGE

The 2023 Piedmont growing season faced numerous challenges, including a wet spring, frost in early April, and a mix of hail, heat, and drought in summer. The frost caused significant crop losses, with some vineyards losing 10 to 50% of their fruit. Despite these challenges, dry conditions in August and September allowed the smaller crop to ripen well. The harvest took place in late September and early October, with producers noting excellent quality grapes. Though yields were down, this vintage produced well-structured wines with good aging potential.

Jeb Dunnuck - May 1, 2025 "Coming from Roero, the 2023 Nebbiolo D'Alba Valmaggiore’s nose is pretty and inviting, with pure notes of raspberries, strawberries, ripe sweet herbs, and floral perfume. Elegant and refined, it has fine tannins, even acidity, and a very graceful feel. While it’s elegant and charming, it’s more than just a simple quaffer and has a remarkably graceful touch."

James Suckling - May 16, 2025 "A layered wine with red currants, red cherries, licorice and dried flowers on the nose. Light-bodied, this shows savoriness with an overall austere structure and a crisp and balanced finish."

Wine Spectator - November 30, 2025 "A mix of cherry, cinnamon and earth flavors, this red is elegant yet lean and firmly structured. An astringent feel graces the finish, where the fruit is buried for now. Classy."

Wine Advocate - June 19, 2025 "The Luciano Sandrone 2023 Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore shows dark fruit aromas with hints of grilled herb, tar, eggplant skin and black olive that recall a hot growing season. To the palate, the wine is quite streamlined with moderate length. This is a more accessible vintage for near-term drinking."

Dolcetto d’Alba

Dolcetto d'Alba

Sandrone's Dolcetto d’Alba is produced using Dolcetto grapes from 11 different vineyards, all within the Barolo DOCG. Sandrone’s Dolcetto sees no time in wood and is a remarkably robust and complex example of the variety.

Le Vigne Barolo

Barolo

Le Vigne is a wine created from four different Nebbiolo vineyards, each of which brings its own contribution. This union generates an exceptionally complex wine that is round and harmonious on the palate, with fruity and spicy notes, and this approach of blending together plots is in fact the traditional one in Barolo.

Barbera d’Alba

Barbera d'Alba

The Sandrone Barbera d'Alba comes from three vineyards: Merli and Rocche di San Nicola in Novello, and Cascina Pe Mol in Monforte d’Alba. It is widely considered one of the most intense and complex Barberas produced.

ALESTE Barolo

Barolo

A combination of the names of Luciano Sandrone's grandchildren ALEssia and STEfano, ALESTE is the new name for Luciano's first wine, the Barolo Cannubi Boschis, which garnered early acclaim with the international trade and press. This single-vineyard wine is typically dense and concentrated, but shows incredible harmony and balance.
