Castello Nipozzano
Mormoreto 2023
Toscana IGT
VINEYARD
The Nipozzano estate spans over 1,500 acres of mountainous forest, olive groves, an olive mill, cattle-grazing land, vineyards, a winery, and the historic Castello . It is an incredible ecosystem, producing not only outstanding wines, but also some of the finest olive oil in Italy (the Laudemio Frescobaldi). The vineyards roll up and down the hillsides surrounding the castle at an elevation range between 250 and 400 meters, with exposures from southeast to southwest. The Montesodi vineyard is located 400 metres above sea level, planted in schist soils with a magnificent south-west exposure
WINEMAKING
After hand-sorting, this wine ferments in stainless steel tanks with frequent pump-overs, especially during the beginning of fermentation. It then ages in large wooden barrels for four years, followed by a year in bottle.
VINTAGE
The 2023 Chianti growing season was marked by promising early budding, a cool, rainy spring, and warmer summer temperatures that supported grape ripening. Despite challenges like April frost, heavy rains, and hailstorms, the harvest finished with healthy, ripe grapes. 2023 was Italy's hottest year on record, leading to a series of heatwaves and drought risks. Despite the volatility, the vintage holds promise.

Nipozzano Riserva
Chianti Rufina
The emblematic wine from Castello Nipozzano, Nipozzano Riserva is a symbol of the Tuscan winemaking tradition and the bond between wine and its site of origin. This Sangiovese achieves a remarkable range of fruit, floral and spice flavors that reflect the estate’s characteristics and the grape varietal. The trademark balance of pleasure and elegance is achieved consistently year after year, instantly transporting you to the Tuscan countryside.
Montesodi
Chianti Rufina
Montesodi is the ultimate single-vineyard expression of Sangiovese at the Nipozzano estate. The vineyard has always been known as Montesodi due to the stony nature of the soil. It was the estate’s first cru wine, created in 1974, and is not only an extremely elegant and lively Sangiovese, but has the power to age for decades.
