La Lupinella
Bianca 2021
Trebbiano Igt
A white wine with a fresh and bright character. The grapes are carefully selected: a small part is picked from the bunch by hand and added during fermentation in terracotta jars, to intensify the aromatic profile of the wine.
Vineyard

Sant’Ansano is a hamlet of the Municipality of Vinci, which is the birthplace of Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci. The wine zone is part of the Montalbano Hills, an area that has long been suited for the production of wine and was recognized in 1796 by the Bando Granducale as a prestigious wine area. Two hectares of Trebbiano are cultivated here, a native white variety that is second in importance and growing area in Italy after Sangiovese.
Winemaking

Carefully selected grapes harvested by hand. Gentle pressing until a soft pink color is obtained. One third of the must ferments in terracotta jars for around 20 days, the rest in stainless steel. Only 2% of the clusters go into this blend, each one hand selected. This technique aims at expressing and emphasizing the aromatic quality of the wine. Left to mature on the fine lees in terracotta jars for a minimum of six months, without malolactic fermentation. Aging in bottle for at least three months.
Vintage

Despite the intense heat of the summer, the grapes look to have retained their strong acidic backbone as well as their aromatic character.
Tasting Note
Straw-yellow with peach flowers in the nose. The palate is balanced by orchard fruit aromas and distinctive mineral/earthiness. Texturally stunning, with rippling acidity moderated a gentle creaminess from the lees contact.
