Vineyard

Geologically, the territory of Monti in Chianti is mainly composed of limestone and marlstone that are rich in calcium (Marna Calcarea) and contain a certain amount of clays. Harvest is manual and carried out in three phases to guarantee that the grapes are selected and picked only when they are perfectly ripe. Grapes are collected into small baskets.

Winemaking

Geremia wine exclusively matures in medium-toast Allier oak barriques for a period of approximately 24 months. After bottling without filtration, it undergoes further aging for an additional 18 months.

Vintage Note

A dry and warm Summer created wines of concentration and elegance, with Spring rains providing tolerance across the growing season.

Tasting Note

Geremia presents complex aromas reminiscent of sour cherries, currants, and other wild berries, accompanied by notes of vanilla, licorice, and chocolate. This wine is characterized by significant structure and complexity, with velvety tannins.

Reviews

Vinous - June 1, 2022 The 2018 Geremia is stellar. A wine of energy and delineation, Geremia is all about persistence more than volume in 2018. Blueberry, blackberry, lavender, licorice and scorched earth abound. In 2018, Geremia is a wine of tension and reserve. It's best days are far off in the future.

Wine & Spirits - October 1, 2023 Marco Ricasoli farms his vines using organic methods, a challenge in rainy growing seasons like 2018, but the well-ventilated position of his Gaiole vineyards, along with intense vineyard work by his team, kept the vines healthy. Geremia, a blend of merlot with about 20 percent of cabernet sauvignon, shows a beautiful freshness in this vintage, its red plum and raspberry flavors seamlessly woven with lively acidity. Warm spice notes deepen the flavors even as hints of wild herbs bring a Tuscan accent to the wine.

James Suckling - July 3, 2023 This has a savory array of thyme, sour cherries, lemon leaves and currants on the nose, with black olives too. It’s full-bodied with firm, nicely integrated tannins and a tangy acidic kick. Merlot and cabernet sauvignon. From organically grown grapes.
