Stay Safe, Sip Well: Sparkling Wines for Trying Times

Wanda Mann of Wine with Wanda recounted how she’s adapted life as a wine journalist this past year and how she’s grown to appreciate tasting wines quietly and at her own pace, allowing the wines time to evolve in the glass. She counts Champagne Ayala Brut Majeur, Rosé Majeur and Le Blanc de Blancs 2013 among her sparkling highlights of the year.

In addition to a few tasting note highlights here, her full post offers much greater detail on each wine and the history of the House. She describes the flagship Brut Majeur as “full and rich with bright flavors of lemon zest, ginger, honey, crunchy green apple, and baked pears with a warm thread of biscuity brioche, it is a lovely way to unwind. Crisp, refreshing, and very ooh la la!”

“Crisp and juicy,” she characterizes Rosé Majeur as having”bright red fruit flavors, a hint of blood orange and a kiss of biscuit.” Lastly, she playfully confirms that Le Blanc de Blancs “has succeeded in adding a bit of ooh la la to a blah day.” In addition to speaking to its winemaking and vineyard selections, she describes this prestige wine as “crisp, chalky, creamy, fruity, nutty; an elegant tapestry of texture and flavor.” Read the full story HERE
